THE HEMP INDUSTRY.
MARCH GRADING RETURNS The total number of bales of hemp graded during the month oi March was 9,343, as compared with 9,270 bales for the corresponding mouth of last year, an increase of 73 bales. For the twelve mouths ended 31st March, 1912, the number of bales graded was 85,684 as compared with 113,528 lor the previous twelve mouths, the decrease being 27,844 bales During the month 2,678 bales of tow were dealt with, as compared with 2,480 for the corresponding mouth of last year, an increase of 198 bales. HEMP. The total number of bales of hemp graded at the different ports was as follows Foxton 4,354, Wellington 3,578, Auckland 788, Bluff 324, Picton 135, Dunedin 113, and Lyttelton 51. The number of bales iu the different grades at each port was as under: —

At Foxtou, ly2 bales of stripper slips, and 119 at Wellington, were passed lor shipment as good fair. Thirty-two bales were condemned at Wellington.
