T AYLOR-CARRINGTON
COM PANY
The benefit entertainment to be given this evening by the TaylorCarrington management, in aid of the Town Hall fund, will doubtless be very largely patronised, for the bill to be presented Is a sensationally strong one. Mr Taylor, as Jack O’Jermyu, in “A Lucky Irishman,” presents an Irish character almost entirely new to theatrical audiences, and one that he shows to wonderful advantage in. Miss Carrington, as a goodhumoured widow, has a comedy character that suits her exactly, and the other artists are said to play up to their principals very cleverly. From one of our exchanges we extract the following ; —“lt seemed to be the opinion of the large audience that the Taylor second bill was even better than their first. Mr Charlie Taylor’s impersonation of the rollicking Irishman, Jack O’Jermyn, is .a clever one, and keeps the audience in screams ol laughter from the rise of the curtain till its fall. Miss Ella Carrington is seen to great advantage as the strongminded wife in ‘A Husband’s Wight Out,’ and Mr Taylor, as the truant husband, has a remarkably funny character to impersonate.” There will doubtless be a very large audience this evening at the Town Hall to enjoy so excellent a performance. PICTURE SHOW. Another good picture entertainment is advertised to be put on tomorrow night at the Town Hall. There are four dramas, and each one is a rattling good one, with plenty of dash and go about it, and in some places most pathetic. A topical film of the French naval disaster should be a tremendous attraction—-this film is very clear and distinct, and will give one a good idea of the terrible accident. The scenics will take a leading place in this programme. Scenes and views in and about Shanghai will show some very strange and weird customs and habits. “ The Realm of Rocks ” promises to be a really beautiful subject, the size and grandeur of some of rue rocks displayed is almost overwhelming. For a good laugh, the comics must satisfy all who see them. “When Tilly’s Uncle Flirted,” and “Toutolini, auto Driver,” will make the house wriggle, but “Pigs is Pigs” will make the house fairly rock. The fortnightly Wednesday entertainments are quite up to the Saturday night standard, and are fast gaining in popularity.
