The congregational meeting was held subsequently, and despite the inclement weather, was representative of the whole district, the northern end being exceptionally so. Both gentlemen dealt at length with the fitness and qualifications of the minister. The resolution, on being put, was carried unanimously. The moderator, in congratulating the congregation upon its choice, spoke eulogisticaily of Mr Thompson as a scholar and theologian. He could saiely say that the Presbytery would sustain the call, aud he hoped that Mr Thompson would be inducted into the charge towards the cud ot April. The call was then signed by loose pieaeut, aud separate copies handed to Messrs Hornblow (Fox- . 0:; , Wilton fßaugiotu), Costall Allen Groua;, and McCully 1 Ihaiaiahana), in order to give members aud adherents in the va:ious districts an opportunity of signing same.
