INDEPENDENT LABOUR PARTY.
An Independent Dabour Party has been formed in this electorate. A meeting was held at Devin on March 7th. The object of the party is to promote industrial and social legislation, aiming at • the absorption of private monopolies by the community, with the final object of removing the burden of rent and interest from industry, thus securing to every man and woman the full value of their efforts. METHODS. (a) To organise all sections of workers with a view to electing representatives pledged to further the objective of the party on all public bodies. (b) To create a public opinion by means of lectures, the distribution of literature, etc., in favour of the above objective. PLATFORM. Dand. The promotion of a form of land tenure which will prevent monopoly and speculation in land, provide laud for the landless, and- to secure to the occupant the whole fruits of his industry, and to the community all values created by the community. Finance —The establishment of a State Bank with the sole right of note issue. A self-reliant, nonborrowing policy. Electoral Reform. —Abolition of the Upper House, Preierential Voting with the Irritative, Referendum and Recall. Full civil and political rights to all State employees. A majority vote to decide all questions submitted to the people. No minimum. Industrial. —The introduction of a Diving Accommodation Bill to apply to all outdoor workers. Equal pay for equal work for all workers. Taxation. —The removal of the burden of taxation from the necessaries of life and increase of taxation upon all unearned incomes by means of a graduated income tax. Social. —To promote the sanctity of the home and restore inviolate the parental relationship by demanding the repeal ot the compulsory clauses of the Defence Act, thus reinstating the parental authority.
The supply by the State of medical aid in maternity cases where the joint income is below per annum. Instances where the parents are unable to avail themselves of such aid, the equivalent to be paid by the State on the registration of the child’s birth. ELECTION OF OFFICERS.

Howell (Paraparaumu), M. Briggs (Tokomaru), J. Hannah (Foxton). Trustees; W. Grace (Levin), R. Williams (Levin), Thos. Lind (Shannon), G, S. Whibley (Foxton). Treasurer, J. W. Thompson, Levin. Bankers, Bank of New Zealand, Levin. Secretary, R. H. Dalhousie, Levin. AFFILIATION SUGGESTED. A meeting of the Palmerston N. Independent Labour Party was held on Thursday evening, when the secretary ol the Otaki party was present by invitation. It is possible than an affiliation of the two parties may be considered at the next meeting of the organisation.
