HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY’S SHOW.
TO-MORROW
The local Horticultural Society’s Autumn Show takes place in the Coronation Hall to-morrow and Thursday. Late entries will be received up to 10 a.m. to-morrow. It is hoped that local growers of fruit, vegetables and flowers will not be backward in sending along exhibits and thus assist the society to popularise this educational institution. It has been proved that local soil can produce choice flowers, vegetables and fruit and such exhibits spur others on to take up horticulture as a hobby. The Masterton and Woodville shows, just held, were very successful, and there is no reason why Foxton should lag behind —if growers will only bring along exhibits. We hope to see larger entries in the cookery and home industry classes then were shown at the spring show. There is plenty of time yet to make up exhibits in these classes. We are afraid that Foxton people are a little backward, or shall we say modest, in exhibiting the products of their gardens and first-class cookery. We hope they will break down this modesty and compete at tomorrow’s show.
During both evenings Mr Betty’s orchestra will provide a musical programme.
The tea rooms will be supervised by Mrs Seabury and the sweets stall by Mesdames Adams and Boyes.
The table decorations will be decided by popular vote.
