METHODIST CHURCH.
The quarterly meeting of the Foxton Circuit was held at the local parsonage on Wednesday evening last, when there was a very good attendance of officials. The Rev T. Coatsworth presided and Mr G. H. Stiles acted as secretary. One senior and fifteen junior members were added to the church roll, making a total of go senior and 15 junior members. The financial statement disclosed a substantial credit balance. Pleasure was expressed at the intention to revive the old time Methodist Class-meeting at an early date. A junior endeavour has been commenced in Foxton which meets at 10.15 every Sunday morning and is conducted by the minister. It is hoped that in this way the boys and girls will take an interest in the work of the church. The meeting expressed its regret at the departure of the Rev S. B. Maiden from the circuit, several of the members expressed their appreciation of his work and regretted that his time on the circuit had been so brief. All joined in wishing him success for the future. Mr Maiden suitably replied. Votes of thanks were passed to several Shannon members for gifts to the Shannon church. All officials were re-elected and the meeting was adjourned until after the vote on Methodist Union had been taken. Refreshments were handed round and the meeting then terminated.
The vote on Methodist Union will be taken at Shauuon on Tuesday evening and at Foxton on Thursday evening at 7.30, when it is hoped that all the members will attend to vote upon this very important question.
