CRICKET.

The match between Otaki and Foxtou to have been played on the Training Farm grounds, Weraroa, on Saturday afternoon, did not take place on account of the Otaki team failing to put in an appearance, and Foxton thus won their first match in the Hall Shield competition on a forfeit.

HOROWHENUA ASSOCIATION MEETING.

A meeting ot the Horowhenua Cricket Association was held at the Weraroa Training Farm on Saturday afternoon. Major Burliuson occupied the chair, and delegates were present from the Training Farm, Levin and Foxtou clubs.

The Chairman briefly explained the steps tfiat had been taken to resuscitate the Association and that four clubs had signified their willingness to take part in the competition. Owing to the lateness in the season it had been decided to play one round only this year.

The following officers were elected : Piesideut, Major Burlinsou (Weraroa) vice-presidents, Messrs W. H. Simcox (Otaki;, G. Coley (Foxton) and J. MacIntyre (Eevin) ; secretary and treasurer, Mr R. S. Horn (Eevin). It was decided that owing to this being a short season the affiliation tee be 7s 6d for each club. Messrs Whibley and Cook were appointed as Foxton’s representatives on the Association. The boundaries of the Association were altered so as to include Foxlou.

The following fixtures were drawn up for next Saturday: — Levin v. Foxton at Foxton, and Training Farm v. Otaki at Otaki.

It was decided to communicate with the Manawatu Association and endeavour to arrange a “rep” fixture this season, the match to be played either at Palmerston, Levin or Foxton. The tollowing were appointed a selection committee for representative matches ; Messrs Redgrave (Foxton), Harding (Levin), Naughton (Otaki) and Egliugton (Training Farm).

The time for the commencement of Shield matches was fixed at 2.15 p.m., a quarter of an hour’s grace to be allowed travelling teams.

Other routine business was transacted and the meeting terminated.
