PRESENTATION TO MR ROBERTSON, M.P.
Upon Mr Robertson’s return from the House after the adjournment last evening says yesterday’s N.Z. Times, he was made the recipient of a presentation by the secretary and president (Messrs Dalhousie and Robinson) of the Flaxmill Workers’ Union. The latter gentleman, in handing Mr Robertson a handsome fountain pen, commented leelingly upon the strain to which the member for Otaki had recently been submitted. He stigmatised the many telegrams received by Mr Robertson from the southern end of the electorate as “ iniquitous wirepulling,” and asked what behaviour could be expected from the Masseyites should they obtain power when they deliberately endeavoured to influence a member’s vote during the period they were in Opposition ? Mr Robertson suitably replied.
