BOWLING.
On Friday several contests for the club trophies were played, and very interesting finishes resulted.
For the Stiles Trophy : Barber (1) 23, beat Hamer (5) 18, Whibley (1) rS, beat Clemett (1) 13For the Hennessy Pairs: Whibley and Munro 21, beat Kellow and Speirs 16. This was a very close game the two teams running level through most of the game. There is only one more game in this match, and this promises to be very interesting and close.
The secretary has received a challenge on behalf of the Shannon Bowling Club for the Toms Ferns, and also that there will be other two teams coming over for a friendly game next Wednesday, the 21st. It is hoped there will be a large muster of Foxton Bowlers to give them a good time. Meantime the local challenge for the Ferns stands down, and will play the winners at a future date. It has been pleasing to note the increased attendance on the greeus, and it is hoped that this will be continued. The greens are in first class order, and with good practice there is no reason why Foxton should not win some of the inter club trophies, which they are elegible to play for.
A Masterion rink succeeded in annexing the Dixon Cup from Palmerston. - Woodville has sent a challenge to the holders. It’s now up to Foxton to have a look in.
