BOWLING.
On Tuesday for the Stunell Trophy, Whibley (O 25, beat Barber (2) 18. On Wednesday afternoon there was a good attendance of ladies as well as gentlemen, and the green wore an animated appearance. Hopper (5) 27, accounted for Harvey (1) 21, after a very keen struggle, which was only decided upon the last head. A game was played for the Toms Ferns, when Petrie, Stiles, Hennessy and Woods (s) met the holders. Spring, Whibley, Clemett and Rimmer (s). The game was very exciting and was better than the scores denote, but skip Rimmer and his crew carried too many guns for the challengers. The scores were Rimmer’s team 33, Woods’ team n. A challenge was handed in by Messrs Barber, Speirs, Walker and Munro (_s), for next Wednesday afternoon, and an interesting game should result. Afternoon tea was dispensed by Mesdames Greig and J. Robinson, and much appreciated.
