CRICKET.
The match between Awahou and Foxton, played on the Park pitch on Saturday afternoon was a particularly interesting one, resulting in a win for Awahou by the narrow margin of eleven runs. Neither side were represented by their full strength, and in this connection Foxton was worse off than their opponents, being only able to muster nine men. Awahou batted first, and knocked up 79, of which number Redgrave contributed 54. Foxton opened very well, 40 odd being scored before the first two men were separated, but the rest ot the batsmen tailed to make any stand, the innings closing tor 68, The following are the scores : Awahou. The following is the local team : Gregory, Lumsden, Stuuell, Green, Petrie, Procter, Staples, Clingberg, Cook, Hinchcliffe, Redgrave and F. Whibley. The players win travel to the Heads in Mr Uauiell’s motor launch, which will leave the wharf at 1.15 o’clock sharp.
