CRICKET.

Cricket is going ahead all over the county says the Horowhenua Chronicle, and the hope is expressed among local enthusiasts that Foxton will form a club. A prominent member of the Levin team yesterday stated that Mr Redgrave, an old Wellington representative cricketer, was living in Foxton and he hoped he would be prevailed upon to take the matter up. Levin wishes Foxton every success it they can put a team together. —No doubt Levin will be surprised to hear that at the present time there are three cricket teams in and around Foxton, and that a competition for a shield is being played between these teams. Cricket has never been allowed to die locally, although in the past there hasn’t been the amount of enthusiasm on the part of supporters of the game that there should be. Now that clubs have been formed in Levin and Otaki no doubt interclub matches will be arranged with teams from both these towns and the local club. We know that local cricketers would welcome a visit by any outside team.

The team to represent Avvahou against Foxton on Saturday will be selected from the following : Rare, Bowe, Death, Martin, T<pki, Proctor, liaeana, Cleland, Knewstub, Hinchcliffe, Betty, Hunt, Lumsdeu and Redgrave.
