CORRESPONDENCE.

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —I would call the attention of the Borough Council to a disgusting nuisance on the river bank near the boat shed, where the river is being polluted by a certain drain. The stench this weather is very bad. Flaxmillers are prosecuted for allowing vegetable refuse to go into the river, but this is ten times a worse uuisauce. Seeing that the nuisance inspector is only such in name, as his reports are ignored by the Council, who do not know when they have got a good man, they should inspect the locality themselves. This is the time of the year when the health of the people should be safeguarded from such danger spots. Thanking you in anticipation,— I am, etc.,
