FOXTON RACING CLUB.
A meeting of the committee of the Foxton Racing Club was held on Tuesday evening, all the committeemen being present, Mr Kellow, one of the Club’s auditors, tendered his resignation, which, on the motion of Messrs Jenks and Coley, was accepted with regret.
On the motion of Dr Maudl, seconded by Mr Barber, it was resolved that a vote of appreciation on the manner in which the officials carried out their duties on race days, be entered in the books of the Club.
A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr F. S. Easton for his donation towards the tea kiosk at the course. Mr Easton put down the foundation and flooring for the building, and the Club put a temporary covering on for the recent meeting, but it is the intention of the committee to complete the kiosk before next race meeting.
Accounts amounting to ,£3BO were passed for payment. After transacting other routine business, the meeting rose.
The recent race meeting was a record one from every point of view, and from a financial standpoint it easily topped any previous gathering. The profit on the two days’ racing reached no less a sum than ,£I4OO, out of which has still to be paid the Government .taxation amounting to ,£6or. This leaves a clear profit to the Club of _£Boo, which is double the amount made on the meeting of 19 11. Among the increases in receipts were the following : Nominations and acceptances ,£SO, members’ subscriptions ,£ls, and the profit from the totalisator amounted to ,£2,231, as against ,£IB2B received from the totalisator and bookmakers last year. This increase in receipts means that the stakes for the next meeting will be materially increased.
