The light-fingered gentry were in evidence at the races yesterday, a number of people having their pockets picked, Local residents were amongst the sufferers, one reporting a loss of £ l2, another £6 ss, and another £3. Sub-In-spector Norwood caught one man with his hand in the pocket of a Palmerston resident. He was arrested and taken to Palmerston North, where he will be brought up on a charge of pocket-picking to-day.
