RAGING.
All arrangments in connection with the Poxton Racing Club’s annual meeting to be held on Saturday and Monday are well in hand, and from present indications this year’s gathering promises to be the most successful in the history of the club. The number of acceptances received for the first day’s events is a record, and as the quality as well as quantity is above the usual standard the racing should be very interesting. As far as the appointments at the course are concerned visitors will have nothing to complain of, as the club has spent a large sum of money in effecting extensive improvements since the last meeting. The first race will start at 12 noon.
Coromandel has been scratched tor all engagements on the first day of the local meeting. A number of the horses taking part in the meeting have already arrived, and a good many more are expected by to-night’s train.
Some of the local sports were about early this morning, and hied away to the course in order to watch the early morning gallops. They were doomed to disappointment, however, as the majority of the horses were not worked until after breakfast.
