TAMPERING WITH LETTERS
Auckland, November 24. in the Supreme Court a lad named Charles Berry Simmons, found guilty in connection with the opening of a love letter in the posi office at Hikuraugi, was brought up lor senteuce. Mr Justice Iviwardssaid the disclosing of private correspondence in this way was a very serious offence. He could not sec his way to do anything but indict a severe pun ishment, but he would l.ae further lime to consider the matter. William iieudersau, anoi.mr lad tound guilty of destrouug medical circulars sent througn lire post and 1101 claimed, was ordered to come up loi sentence when called upon, and pay 4,12 towards the cost of the prosecution. Senteuce on Joel Rowley tor having opened a letter at Hikuraugi Post Office was defeired.
