A TRAGIC FATALITY.
Whangarei, Nov. 16
A tragic incident brought “People’s Day’’ at the VVhaugarei A. and P. show to an abrupt close at 4 o’clock this afternoon. Polly Weaver, the fifteen-year-old daughter oi Air Harry Weaver, ex-Mayor, was killed almost instantaneously when taking part in an event for lady riders over hurdles. The horse struck the top hurdle, turned a somersault and fell with the girl directly underneath. All other events and the judges’ supper to-night were abandoned.
