GARDEN PARTY
A meeting of parishioners of All Saint’s Church was held in the Sunday School last night, the vicar presiding. It was decided to hold the garden party at the vicarage on December 6th, and to ask the Mayor to open it. The fete will be open afternoon and evening, and the price of admission will be is. The following were appointed stall holders : Sweets stall, Mrs Boyes and Miss Symons ; produce stall, Misses Coley ; flower stall, Mrs C. Robinson, Mrs Kellovv aud Miss Collins ; Guild stall, the Ladies’ Guild; Christmas tree, Mrs Barber and the Misses Maroui ; lea rooms, Mrs Nye, Miss Stackpool, and others ; evening programme, Messrs Betty, Woods, Collins aud HolUngtou ; competitions, Messrs Kellovv, Boyes, and R. Bright ; sports, Mr C. H. Collins jr. The vicar was requested to ask the Baud to be present in the evening, and to send them an invitation which would admit them free and also admit them to the tea tent. It was also resolved to hold a rose show under the auspices of those managing the flower stall, the entry fee to be 3d, and a handsome prize for the winner, The vicar was requested to ask Mr Jenson, of the Avenue, to be the judge. Mrs Nye offered a prize for the best decorated flower basket (entrance 3d), for any school children. Promises of sheep, etc., for competitions were received with gratitude. Mr R. I\ Betty gave a pair of boots (gent’s or lady’s) for the person who guesses the right number of beans in a bottle —the bottle now on view at Mr Betty’s shop. Mr Bock has kindly given the tea tent again, and Mrs Gibbs has offered a smaller one for general use.
