TOWN CLERK’S REPORT
The following report was read Irom the Town Clerk at last night’s Council meeting : “ During the past month the roadmen have been engaged iu putting in new gas services and mains.
“The Town Hall is letting well, and the picture shows, with their first-class programmes, seem to have caught the public favour. Two tenders were received for the caretaker’s wash-house, etc., and that of Mr R. A. Speirs, being the lowest, was accepted, and the work is now being proceeded with. The new Gaumot machine was installed on Friday, worked on Saturday, and gave every satisfaction. When the new dynamo comes to hand, the installation will be complete. The gas engine is working smoothly, and giving every satisfaction. Taere are now only two subscribers to the Coronation Town Hall Fund who have not paid up, one amount £3 3s and the other £1 is. As the time limit is now drawing near for payment of the subsidy, I am afraid I shall have to make application without these amounts.”
