SUGGESTED LIFE-BOAT AT THE BEACH. The following circular has been issued by Messrs Mouusey aud Dahl, in connection with matters affecting the local seaside resort: — “We all deeply regret the fatality that took place at the Mmiawaui Heads a few weeks ago, and it is with this unfortunate affair before us, and the possibility ot further accidents occurring, that we respectlully address this letter to you, with the object iu view ol being iu a belter position to render quick aud practical help, and thus perhaps be enabled to save some of our fellow-creatures from a wateiy grave, and stay bereavement to those who would otherwise be left to mourn. In order to fully discuss this important matter, in which we Jeel many will join aud give their hearty co-operation, we hereby desire to call a meetiug to be held iu Messrs Dawicks’ Bullet, Raugitikei street, Palmerston North, on Tuesday, 7111 November, at 2.30 p.m., when your attendance is most earnestly requested. The business to be considered is as follows :

1. The purchase of a wellequipped life-boat, with all necessary appliances.

2. The erection of a boat shed, say 10 x 40, for the purpose ol housing the boat, with a spare room iu the back Ikied with all necessary requirements and ambulance requisites. 3. Making arrangements for regular practices iu launching the boat aud handling same in rough weather, and thereby arriving at some efficiency to meet aud overcome difficulties, if called upon. 4. Making arrangements whereby instruction would be given, say, once a week, either by a medical man, or competent members of the Ambulance Society (who have already signified their willingness) to instruct both young and old iu the best possible way to give first aid to a person in need of it. 5. The erection of a jetty at the heads in order to minimise the risk of life in having to use small boats to transfer persous.”
