THE GENERAL ELECTION.

There is every likelihood that the general election will not be held until December. The Premier, speaking on the subject last night, said that all writs must be returned, including those in respect to second ballots, before December 29th, Under present conditions it did not appear as if the second ballots could be taken unless they were made returnable very much earlier than December 29th. That, however, would not give sufficient time for members to go over their electorates before the general election. He did not think the House would finish up the business by next Saturdav.
