NE TEMERE DECREE.

MANIFESTO BY EVANGELICAL CHURCHES.

SYDNEY, Oct. 21

The heads of the Evangelical Churches have issued a manifesto to Protestants, condemning the “Ne Temere ” decree against mixed marriages. The manifesto states the decree is an unwarrantable intrusion into the sphere of the State, and inimical to the domestic peace and moral welfare of the community.

A JEWISH RABBI’S SERMON. Sydney, Oct. 22. Rabbi Cohen preached on the “Ne Temere” decree. He warned Jewish people that, if they married Catholics, they risked the loss of the marriage rights. The Jewish religion, he said, was strict in regard to mixed marriages, but Jews acknowledged that the law of the laud was the law tor them.
