A MASTERTON LIBEL CASE.

Masterton, Sept. 12

A case was heard in the Supreme Court to-day in which J. J. Kelliher, law clerk, claimed from Jabez Bridges, organiser of NoLicense League, the sum of for alleged libel contained in a letter and a report of the meeting published in the Wairarapa Age. After hearing evidence lor plaintiff his Honor directed that a verdict be given for defendant on the ground that plaintiff had already accepted the sum of ,£4O from the Wairarapa Age in satisfaction of claim for damages in respect to the same libel. The jury returned a verdict accordingly with costs.
