ÆRATED WATER MANUFACTORY

Mr W. Gray, of the Post Office Hotel, has recently established an aerated water manufactory on his premises in Main Street, and in connection with same has installed an Austral aerated water machine which is one of the latest and most up-to-date of its kind at present on the market. These machines have not beeu introduced into New Zealand very long, the first to use one being the Wellington Working Men’s Club, but have proved so entirely satisfactory that numbers are now being installed throughout the Dominion. It is surprising how very simple it is to mauujacture soft drinks when one of these machines is brought into requisition. The whole outfit consists ol a gas holder in which is used a natural gas imported from Germany and supplied in tubes which fit into the holder. The holder is connected with a lank filled with pure water and all that Is required in order to aerate the water is to turn on the necessary pressure of gas, qolb or 601 b., according to the strength of the bottles to be used. When this is done, the tank, which is of an oval shape, is turned something alter the style of churning butter in a barrel churn. This agitation forces the gas through the water in the tank and a real fine soda water is the result. To the tank are connected two bottling machines, one each for marble bottles and ordinary ones. All that is necessary to do is to insert the bottle in the machine, turn the handle, and the machine will do rest, filling it and corking it. There is another small contrivance for flavouring and colouring the waters and with the machine as at present installed by Mr Gray something over 20 different kinds of beverages can be manufactured. The plant was installed by Mr Gray more particularly to supply his own requirements in the way ot aerated waters but it is capable of a sufficiently large output to supply all Foxton’s wants in this direction.
