At the quarterly summoned meeting of u.c jucui Druids Dodge held last night, Fro. P- T. Robin son, whose lesignaliou as secretary was received with regret at the previous meeting of the Dodge, was the recipient of two presentations.
During the meeting Bro. Dr. Adams on behalf of the Dodge, presented Bro. Robinson with a Fast Secretary’s collar. In making the presentation Bro. Adams referred to the secretary’s good work during his term of office. Bro. Robinson had assumed the duties of secretary upon the formation of the Dodge three years ago, and it was due to a very large extent to his enthusiasm and excellent work that the Dodge was in such a flourishing state at the present time. Nothing in the interests of the Order had been too much trouble tor him to undertake and he had frequently put hlmselt to great inconvenience in order to further the interests of the Dodge. Since Bro. Robinson had removed to Palmerston North he had not missed a meeting; he travelled fifty miles every fortnight in order that the Dodge might have the benefit of his services. Bro. Adams / assured Bro. Robinson that the Dodge thoroughly appreciated his good work and in expressing his regret on losing their secretary he was voicing the opinion of the whole of the members. As one of the Dodge’s auditors he desired to congratulate Bro. Robinson on the accurate and up-to date manner in which the books had been kept. In conclusion the speaker expressed keen regret that the Dodge was losing the services of Bro. Robinson as secretary and he took the opportunity of wishing him prosperity in the future. Past Arches Bros., Woods, Ball and Dudsou also eulogised Bro. Robinson’s good work and expressed keen regret that the Dodge was losing irs services. Bra Robinson feelingly responded. He said that in carrying out the duties of secretary of the Dodge as he did he had only done his duly, and it was really a labour of love. He regretted very much that owing to bis taking up his residence in Palmerston North he was forced to resign the secretaryship, but he assured the members that he would always take a keen interest in the Dodge’s affairs and would attend the meetings as often as possible. He desired to thank the officers and brothers for their courtesy and assistance during his term of office’. At the conclusion of the meeting Bro. Adams, on behalf of the members of the Dodge, presented Bro. Robinson with a case containing silver mounted and amber cigarette and cigar holders and a silver match box. Bro. Adams said he was making this presentation on behalf of the individual members as a mark ot the esteem in which Bro. Robinson was held by all connected with the Dodge. Bro. Robinson briefly thanked the members for their token of esteem and Bro. Adams tor his kindly remarks. He said that during his term yf office he had uet\er had a dispute with any of the members and he hoped that the newly-elected secretary would get on as well with them as he had done. The proceedings were brought to a close by the singing of “For he’s a jolly good fellow” and “Auld Dang Syne,” and three cheers for Bro. Robinson were heartily given.
