GAMING AMENDMENT BILL.
SECOND READING CARRIED. In the House last night the second reading of the Gaming Amendment Bill was agreed to. This Bill was introduced by Mr Jennings with the object ol saving a number of country racing clubs from the destruction threatened them by the report ot the Racing Commission. One member after another expressed strong disapprobation of the reports; and the disapproval came both from the anti-gambling section and from sporting members. The Hon. D. Buddo expressed sympathy with the Bill, but Sir James Carroll asked that the recommendations of the Commission should be given a year’s trial. The second reading was carried by 35 to 16.
