FOXTON MERGED INTO OTAKI. Wellington, August 14. The following proposed boundaries of the electoral districts are gazetted, to which written objection will be received up to noon of September 13, and heard next day : The Manawatu electoral district comprises the whole of the ridings of Rangitoto, Otakapu, Porewa, Wangaehu, Kangitira and Otairi of the Rangitikei County and that portion of the Awarua tiding lying to the south of the Makohine-Manga weka road ; the whole of the ridings of Saadon, Waitohi and Rougotea of the Manawatu County and that portion of Mount Stewart riding at present in the existing Manawatu electoral district; that part of Carnarvon riding lying to the north of sections 305 and 306, block IX., Te Kawau survey district, and the southern boundary of run No. 24, block 11., Sandon survey district; also those portions of the Maugaone and Taonui ridings of the Kairauga County at present included in the existing Manawatu electoral district. This district includes the borough of Marton and the town districts of Mangaweka, Hunterville, Lethbridge, Bulls and Rongotea. Oroua practically remains as before with the addition of part of Rangitikei in the north.

The electoral district ot Palmerston comprises the whole of the Kairanga County less those portions of the Mangaone and Tainui ridings at present in the existing electoral district of Manawatu, and includes that portion of the Oroua County at present in the existing electoral district of Palmerston. This district includes the borough of Palmerston North.

The New electorate in the north is to be called “Raglan,” and is situated mostly in the old Waikato constituency. It will also take in portions of Taumarunui, which lies to the south and Tauranga, Mr Herries’ scattered constituency, which is to the east, running right over the coast. The West Coast will be the western boundary of the new electorate and it will include the towns of Raglan and Kawhia, on the coast. On its northern boundary, it will abut on the Franklin electorate, now represented by Mr Massey. The southern seat to disappear is Taieri. It will be absorbed by the surrounding seals of Bruce, Clutha, and Tuapeka, which will themselves be found to have undergone considerable change. The absorption of Taieri means that the Hon, T. Mackenzie will have to look for a new seat in Parliament.
