SOCIAL AND DANCE.

The social and dance held in the Masonic Hall last night in aid of funds to renovate the Native church at Motuiti was most successful, both from a financial and social point of view. There was a large attendance and over 40 couples tripped lightly to the excellent music supplied by Mr Pere, of Otaki. During the evening songs were contributed by Messrs T. Maniha fOtaki), Pene and W. Hooker and Mrs Boyes. The accompaniments were played by Mrs Boyes. A special feature of the function were poi dances and hakas by the natives from Motuiti. These weie excellently carried out, and much appreciated by those present. The duties of M’s.C. were capably carried out by Messrs Dr. Adams, Tawhai and Williams. Extras were played by Messrs W. King and P. Robinson.

As a result of the function, the fund for the renovation ot the Church will benefit considerably. The success of the Affair was largely due to the work of the energetic secretary, Mr Tawhai Eruera, who was indefatigable in his efforts for the success ot the social.
