THE LATE MR TAYLOR.

THE WIDOW’S THANKS. Chrisi'church, August 2. Mrs T. E. Taylor has asked the Press Association to express the gratitude of herself aud her family tor the sympathy extended them during the past week. “ I should very much like to have replied to all the telegrams and beautiful messages personally,” she writes, “ but there have been so many that I cannot hope to answer them all. We have been immeasurably comforted and sustained by the sympathy ot Mr Taylor’s friends, and indeed of all the people of New Zealand, and especially by the beautiful spirit of appreciation of our dear one. The kind words that have come to us from every part of the Dominion have given us courage aud strength to bear our great loss, aud we cannot even try to express our deep gratitude in words.” During his speech ou the Ad-dress-in-Reply last night, Mr C. PI, Poole referred to the withdrawal by Mr Massey ot charges made by him last session against the late T. E. Taylor, aud claimed that Mr Massey’s withdrawal was not a complete vindication of Mr Taylor’s character. He asked Mr Massey if he did not intend the withdrawal to be a wholesouled one, to let it stay there, but if he did so intend he should give full aud complete vindication and so clear the dead man’s character.
