A SYDNEY TRAGEDY.
MAN SHOT DEAD. Sydney, July 17. A mysterious tragedy occurred in Scott Street, Newcastle, in broad daylight yesterday. Charles McGuire, alias Michael Daley, was shot dead. Nobody is known to have witnessed the deed. Thomas Jones and George Smith, who were standing near were arrested on a charge of vagrancy. Another man, the owner of the revolver that had been used, states that Jones and Smith visited him for drink. He afterwards missed the revolver, and it was subsequently found near the body of the dead man. Smith and McGuire were companions.
