BOROUGH COUNCIL.
SPECIAL MEETING. A spacial meeting of the Foxton Borough Council was held in the Council Chamber last night to decide as to seating accommodation and the purchase of a gas engine and dynamo for the Coronation Hall; also to discuss matters in connection with the gas works. Present: His Worship tbe Mayor (G. H. Stiles, Esq.), and Councillors Dr Adams, Carter, Coley, Chrystall, Gibbs, Rimmer, Speirs and Stewart. An apology for absence, through indisposition, was received from Cr Greig. GAS ENGINE AND DYNAMO. Prices from a number of firms had been received tor the supply of a gas engine and dynamo, and after considerable discussion it was decided, on the motion of Cr Adams, seconded by Cr Coley, that a committee consisting of the Mayor, Crs Coley, Gibbs, Greig and Speirs, together with Mr John Ross, visit Palmerston N. to inspect electric lighting plants, with power to act. SEATING ACCOMMODATION, A number of quotations and illustrations of chairs for gallery of Coronation Hall were received from various firms, and after discussion it was resolved, on the motion of Cr Gibbs,, seconded by Cr Carter, that the Town Clerk write Crabtree and obtain complete specifications of chairs offered to the Council erected at 8s 8d as to size, etc., and that the matter be left in the hands of the Hall Committee with power to act.
