TOWN CLERK S REPORT.

The following report on the workings in the Borough tor the past month was submitted by the Town Clerk at last night’s Council meeting : “ The roadmen have completed the laying of cement pipes across Reeve street junction, Futtei street, Gladstone street, and Coley street, while box culverts have been placed across Frances street to lift surface water, as promised to those signing petition, and also in Robinson street. Some of the worst holes in the roads have been attended to, the water channels of Mam street have been cleaned out, and the triangle reserve mown and weeded, etc. A man has been employed in digging out all the tree shelters, and these are now ready for the planting of new trees. The roadmen are now engaged in the formation of a road in front of the New Zealand Shipping Coy.’s sheds. A clump of willows which was obstructing the light of the gas lamp at the corner of the Avenue and Johnston street has been cut back, and the light is now discernible wellalongjohnston street. Upon completion of the road in front of the N.Z. Shipping Coy.’s sheds, I propose to form a footpath in Union street authorised at the last monthly meeting of the Council, and then trim up some of the roads with the grader. ’ ’
