FOOTBALL.
POSITIONS OF TEAMS, SENIOR.
The following team has been chosen to represent the North Island Country Unions for the series of matches arranged by the New Zealand Rugby Union : North Island. —Downing, Mitchell and Bailey (Hawke's Bay) ; Montgomery and Dougall (Bay of Plenty); Millert, Thomson and Winter (Poverty Bay) ; S. Darby, N. N. Morgan and J. Truscott (South Auckland), H. Mexted aiad G. Smith (Bush Districts); N. McKenzie, H. J. McKenzie and C. Barry (Wairarapa) ; O’Connor, Stalker and Carroll (Manawatu) ; Nepia, Winiata and W. Winiata (Horowhenua). The team will assemble in Palmerston North about the 24th of the current month.
Mr T. Parata has been appointed to referee the Horowhenua v. Manawatu rep. match, which is to take place on the Levin Recreation Ground on Saturday afternoon next.
All matches under the jurisdiction of the Horowhenua Rugby Union will be postponed on Saturday next, in consequence of the representative match. A match has been arranged to be played on the local racecoutse on Saturday between a team from the Foxton Club and the Whitaunui mill team. The kickoff will take place at 3 o’clock.
