DR. BARNARDO’S HOMES.

ANOTHER ANONYMOUS DONATION OF £5. In our last issue we asked that Foxton’s donation to Dr. Barnado’s Homes be increased to at least The fund was initialed by an anonymous correspondent who showed his practical sympathy with this noble institution by enclosing £5. To this was added a sum of 10s. Last night we received a handsome donation of £5 with the following covering letter: “Mr Editor, —I agree with the sentiments of your anonymous contributor of £5 for Dr Barnardo’s Homes. I think you are much too modest in asking for only j£io to assist in feeding, clothing and educating 8000 or so destitute children. Please find enclosed £5. There must be plenty more notes in Foxton, as note contributions to Coronation Hall. Matthew XXV., 34 —40. —‘ (34) Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: (35) For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat; I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink : I was a stranger, and ye took me in: (36) Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me : I was in prison, and ye came unto me. (37) Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed Thee ? or thirsty, and gave Thee drink ? (38) When saw we Thee a stranger, and took Thee in? or naked, and clothed Thee ? (39) Or when saw we Thee sick, or in prison, and came unto Thee ? (40) And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these My brethren, ye have done it unto Me.’ ”

This morning a further sum of £1 7s 6d was donated by Mr Chrystall.

We shall be pleased to fall in with the suggestion of our correspondent, whose practical sympathy is worthy of emulation, and keep the list open for a few days longer, when we shall forward the amount on to the Institution. The total handed in now amounts to 17s 6d, made up as follow: Two anonymous gifts of xos from Rev. G. Y, Woodward, and £1 7s 6d from Mr J. Chrystall.
