FAREWELL AND PRESENTATION.
On Monday night, in the social room at the back of the Druids’ Hall, Shannon, about 80 ladies and gentlemen met to say “ goodbye ” to Mr and Mrs T. C. Dnnckley, who are leaving Shannon for Morrinsville, Auckland. The proceedings took the form of a euchre party, the management of which was in the hands of Mr Walter S. Carter (Moutoa) and Mr P. O'Connor.
At ro p.m. supper was provided, after which Mr Venn, in the absence of Mr Wm. Carter, presented Mr and Mrs Dunckley with a handsome silver entree dish, inscribed “To Mr and Mrs T. C. Dunckley, from Shannon friends. 19-6-11.” Mr A. Saunders (Moutoa) also spoke, and xMr Dunckley suitably replied thanking the Shannon friends for their kindness. Songs were given by Misses Smith and Daurvig, and a selection by the Shannon Dramatic Society’s orchestra.
After singing “ For They Are Jolly Good Fellows,” “ Auld Dang Syne, ’ ’ and ‘ ‘ God Save the King, ’ ’ the very pleasant gathering came to a close shortly alter 11 p.m. Mr Dunckley is again going into the drapery business in Morriusville.
