FOOTBALL.
POSITIONS OF TEAMS.
The match to be decided on the local racecourse on Saturday is Koputaroa v. Foxton juniors. The local team will be considerably strengthened by the inclusion of some of the last year s senior players w hohave been re-instated as juniors. Mr J. Desmond will have charge of the whistle. Ihe game will commence at 2.45 P-JD. and the price of admission is sixpence. The following team has been chosen to represent Foxton (junior) against Koputaroa on Saturday ; B. Hooker, Withers, W. Cook, Staples, Currie, Matthews, Price, Fred Robinson, Rimmer, Bowe, F. Hooker, Smith, C. Cummerfield, Shamrock, Saville. Emerg., Backs; R. Robinson, Wilson. F. Robinson ; forwards : Davey, Fat Billy. The Foxton seniors will travel to Levin where they will tnee Tainui. The referee appointed to control this match was Mr M. Winiata, but as he has decided to again don the jersey, it has been necessary to appoint another referee and Mr J. Smith, of Levin, has been selected to fill the vacancy. Confirmation of disqualifications imposed by provincial Rugby Football Unions has been made as follows by the New Zealand Union C. Hamilton, disqualified at Wellington (until end of the present season), for having disputed a referee’s decision and used bad language towards him ; J. Craig, disqualified at Dunedin (until end of season of 1913). f° r having deliberately tripped an opponent; H. Langley, disqualified at Dunedin (during Otago Union’s pleasure), for having failed to appear before the union when called upon to answer a charge of having used bad language. By comparison with the above sentences the punishment meted out to the offenders by the Horowhenua Union recently is particularly light, and the players concerned have reason to be thankful that they are playing in the Horowbenua Union, and not under another union, which would have dealt with the offenders in a much more stringent manner. In the interest ot clean football it is im • perative that any action on the part of players which tends to lower the tone of the game should be put down with a firm hand by those in authority.
