ACCIDENTALLY POISONED.

Gisborne, May 30

At the inquest to-day on the chemist’s manager, who was found dead in his shop on Sunday night, the evidence was to the effect that deceased was somewhat addicted to liquor. He had been drinking in company with a prohibited person, who underwent a severe cross-examination at the inquest. The following verdict was returned by the jury ; “We are of opinion that the deceased took a drug, probably strychnine, to tone himself up, and being somewhat under the influence of liquor he took more than he intended to and was accidentally poisoned.”
