BOWLING.
The curtain was rung down on the Bowling Green on Saturday, when a rink of ladies played a team of gentlemen, 16 heads were played aud up to the 13th head honours were even, but a fortunate 6 on the T4UI head gave the gentlemen a lead which the ladies failed to reduce : Mrs Parkes Whibley Mrs Witchell' Spring Mrs Petrie Ross Mrs Adams (s) 15 Hopper (s) 20 The above game only acted as a stimulant to the ladles who issued a challenge to any team on the ground for a further 4 heads. The challenge was taken up with disastrous results to the brave men as the scores show : Mrs Parkes Whibley Mrs Witchell Spring Mrs Petrie Ross Mrs Adams (s) 8 Witchell (s) o Messrs Clemett and Hopper played off for fourth place in the Feather competition and alter an interesting game. Mr Clemett won bj 7 a margin of seven points. The leading scores for the Club Feathers are as follows : Woods 9, Hennessy and Stunuell 8 each, Clemett and Hopper 7 each. The latter pair have decided to play off for fourth place. A retrospective glance shows the season to have been a most successful one and there is no doubt the Bowling Club has become a popular institution. The membership totals about 60 and many new players will be in evidence next season. The laying down of the croquet court is nearly completed and when the flag flies next season a gay and animated scene will present itself.
