At the Horticultural Society’s meeting on Thursday uight a point was raised by a member, during the election of officers, as to the functions and standing of vice-president and whether persons so elected were merely honorary members. In his address on Home Rule at Feilding, Mr Donovan, the Irish envoy, referring to the sectarian bogey, stated that every Home Rule leader except O’Connell and Redmond, had been Irish Protestants. He mentioned the names of Robert Emmett, Lord Edward Fitzgerald, Thos. The Home Rule delegates, Messrs Redmond and Donovan, spoke at Feilding on Thursday evening, shd were given a very enthusiastic reception, Mr E. Goodbehere presiding. Pirani moved, “ That this meeting of residents of Feilding district is of opinion that, in the best interests of good Government of the Empire, Home Rule should be granted to the people of Ireland.” This was carried, as was also a vote of thanks to the speakers. At the conclusion oi the meeting it was announced that a sum of had been collected towards the Home Rule Funds.
