FOXTON HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

ANNUAL MEETING

The annual meeting of members of the above was held in the Council Chambers on Thursday night. There was a large attendance of members. Mr Alex. Speirs, President, occupied the chair. Correspondence was read and received. It was decided to donate 10s 6d to the caretaker of the Council Chambers for services rendered. The secretary was instructed to write thanking the Borough Council for the use of the Council Chamber during the year. The balance sheet as audited was read and received. The receipts for the year, including a credit balance of ,£l3 14s 8d carried forward from last year, totalled ,£ll9 os yd, and expenditure ,£73 ns, leaving a credit balance in hand of 9s 6d. A vote of thanks was accorded the auditor, Mr Alf. Fraser. The election of officers was then proceeded with, and resulted as follows : Patron, E. Newman, Esq., M.P. (re-elected); president, Mr Alex. Speirs (re-elected); vicepresidents, Drs Adams and Mandl, Messrs Stiles, Heunessy, Gibbs, H. Greig, W. E. Barber, P. Neylon, C. E. and J. Robinson, B. G. Gower, W. Ross, G. Rough, W. S. Stewart, A. S. Easton and Witchell ; committee •• Messrs Kempster, Woods, J. Newth Gallaud, Boyes, Jackson, Horublow, Bullard, Woodroofe, Henderson, Mesdames Stewart, Collins, Greig, Adams, Galland, Boyes, Robinson, Misses Neylon, Signal, Rough, Symons and Speirs ; auditor, Mr Alf. Fraser; secretary, Mr PI. C. Patterson ; treasurer, Miss Ross. The catalogue for the Bulb Show, as drafted by the sub-committee, was approved and ordered to be printed iu sheet form. It was decided that entries for the Bulb Show close on the Monday night prior to the Show, and that late entries be received up to xo a.m. on the day of the Show on payment of double entry fees. The catalogue for the Spring Show was also read and approved. Alterations to rules were discussed at considerable length ; and other minor matters dealt with, and the meeting rose.
