HIMATANGI RAILWAY STATION.
TRUCKING ARRANGEMENTS TOO PRIMITIVE. *THE MEMBER DEPUTATIONISED. Messrs Vile and Farmer, of Himatanga, waited upon Mr E. Newman, M. P., at Foxtou on Wednesday night and urged upon him the necessity for better railway siding accommodation at the Himaiangi railway station. The deputation pointed out that the present siding was quite inadequate and much inconvenience and loss of time was occasioned thereby. A dead line was required where trucks could be loaded and unloaded without having to be shunted backward and forward in order to keep the line open for ordinary traffic. Ihe deputation also asked that better facilities be afforded at the goods shed and that the line be taken right through the shed. It was pointed out that the increase of traffic at this junction demanded much better facilities than at present obtained. Mr Newman, who had visited the station during the afternoon, concurred with the deputation that better facilities were required and promised to bring the matter under the notice ot the Department at the earliest possible moment. The deputation thanked the member on behalf of the settlers in the locality and withdrew.
