WORKERS’ DWELLINGS.

TO BE ERECTED IN FOXTON.

In consequence of a number of applications from Foxton having been received for the erection of workers’ dwellings in accordance with the Act passed last session, Mr J. Lomas, head of the Labour Department in Wellington, accompanied by Mr W. J.. Culver ot the Palmerston office, paid an official visit to Foxton yesterday, and, together with the local Inspector of Factories (Mr F. Woods) inspected a number of sections in the borough with a view to recommending the purchase of some four or five acres for the above purpose. It is the intention ot the Department to erect six dwellings to start with, each to be erected on a quarteracre section, the balance of the land purchased to be built on as occasion demands.

The plans of the proposed buildings are shortly to be forwarded to the local Inspector of Factories, at whose office they will be open for inspection.
