PRESBYTERIAN SOCIAL.
The social held on Thursday evening to mark the opening of the new Presbyterian Sunday School Hall was successful in every way. The building was crowded, and a programme was presented in which Palmerston as well as Foxton talent figured. The items were thoroughly appreciated by everyone, and a number of encores were given. The Rev. G. K. Aitken acted as chairman, and introduced the performers with appropriate references. He announced that it was proposed to form a literary society, for whose use the hall would be available during the winter mouths. The programme was as follows : Piaubforte duet, Misses Brown ; duet, Miss Paget and Mr Jewett; song, Miss Paget; song, Miss Signal; recitation (humorous), Mr Palliser ; song, Miss Brown ; duet, Miss Paget ; duet, (humorous) Messrs Hornblow and Redman ; song, Mr Jewett ; song, Miss Law ; duet, Messrs jeuks and Buglass ; recitation, Mr Palliser. Accompaniments were played by Miss Aitken, Jenks and Brown, the piano being kindly lent by Mr Wrigley. The handing round of refreshments, provided by the ladies, brought a very pleasant evening to a close.
