BOWLING.
The Borough elections overshadowed the green yesterday, and no feather match was played. The meeting held during the afternoon (Mr Clemett in the chair) was a great success, the ladies mustering in strong force. On the motion of Mr Hamer, seconded by Mrs Petrie, it was decided to hold a euchre party and dance on May 10th. The following ladies’ committee was formed : Mesdames Petrie, Nye, Adams, Witched, Boyes, Greig, Parkes, Hamer, Woods, A. Ross, and Misses Speirs (2), and Ross, the latter being elected secretary. The following kindly donated prizes: (Gentlemen) Mrs Hamer Ist, Mrs Nye 2nd ; (ladies) Mr Rimmer Ist, Mrs Witched second, and Mr Hamer booby prize. Mrs A. Speirs and Mr Jas. Ross have also offered prizes fora future occasion. Tickets for the euchre and dance (2s 6d) will shortly be obtainable from the committee and various business places in town. On the motion of Mr Woods, seconded by Mr Hamer, it was decided to lay down the croquet lawn at once.
