NO-LICENSE PICNIC AND CONVENTION.

(Special Correspondent)

A large No-License picnic and convention was held on Easter Monday on the racecourse at Waikanae. Delegates and visitors attended from all parts of the Otaki electorate, and had an enjoyable and profitable time. In the morning cricket and other games were indulged in, and in the afternoon speeches of a very high order were delivered by Mr R. A. Wright, M.P., Mr Snowball, of Masterton, and Mr Herd, President of the Otaki No-License Council. Mr Wright, who gave a most vigorous speech, dwelt particularly upon tied houses and brewers monopolies, while Mr Snowball spoke with authority upon the great success of NoLicense in Masterton.

At the close of the convention, Mr J. Andrew, the Secretary, thanked the speakers, the Salvation Army Band that came from Wellington to discourse music, and Mr Parata for the use of the beautiful grounds on which the picnic was held. The delegates went home filled with enthusiasm for the coming fight, and with the Rev. T. F. Jones as organiser, and Mr Andrew as secretary, the work should be done thoroughly.
