WEDDING
WISHART—BAKER. A wedding which created a good deal of interest took place at the residence of Mr Perreau yesterday at noon, when the Rev. Mr Coatswoith united in matrimony Mr A. B. Wishart, of Featherston, and Mrs Baker, daughter of Mr J. Walls. The bride was attired in a rose coloured costume, trimmed with silk and silk lace insertion to match. She also carried a handsome bouquet of cosmos. The bride was given away by her father, and was attended by her sisters, Misses Vida and Rita Walls, charmingly attired in white silk muslin and carrying shower bouquets. Mr A. Smith officiated as “ best man.” After the ceremony between 70 and 80 guests sat down to breakfast. The health of the bride and bridegroom was proposed in a felicitous speech by Mr Perreau (the bride’s brother-in-law). Other appropriate toasts were duly honoured and a very happy time spent. The bride’s goiug-away dress was a blue costume with heliotrope and black braid trimmings and a rose plush “ bucket ” hat.
Mr and Mrs Wishart left for Rotorua yesterday where the honeymoon is to be spent after which they will take up their residence in Featherston.
The bride’s popularity was evidenced by the handsome presents received from local residents. The bridegroom’s present to the bride was a gold watch and the bridegroom received a travelling rug from the bride.
Mr and Mrs Wishart carry away the best wishes for their future happiness from their many friends in Foxton.
