FORE.

At about 11 o’clock last night the residence of Mr D. Williams, No. 1 Line, was totally destroyed by fire. The family retired at about 9.30 p.m., when everything appeared alright. About an hour and a-half later Mrs Rout, Mrs Williams’ mother, was awakened, and found the house in flames. The fire had too big a hold for there to be any chance of saving the building, or, in fact, any of the contents, the inmates escaping practically clad only in their night clothes.

The origin of the outbreak is a mystery, but it apparently started in the kitchen. There was no insurance whatever on either the building or contents and consequently Mr Williams is a very heavy loser.
