MANAWATU MEETING. FIRST DAY. The Manawatu Racing Club’s autumn meeting was opened yesterday in fine weather. The course was in good order, and there was a large attendance. Woodhey Hack Handicap.— Parewanui 1, Allurement 2, Deploy 3. Time, 1 min issec. Taikorea Welter. —Julian 1, Aimwell 2, Waipunui 3. Time, rmiu 43 2-ssec. SECOND DAY. Kairanga Hurdles. Eiya 1, Golden Water 2, Sardonyx 3. Hack Flying. —Moutoa Girl 1, Jargon 2, Melalogue 3. Borough Handicap.—Hermia 1, Mon Ami 2, Sea Queen 3. The well-known local ownertrainer, A. M. Wright, scored two wins at the Palmerston races yesterday, Stevens winning the Linton Hack Handicap and The Rover accounting for the Longburn Handicap. Stevens is the latest addition to the stable, Mr Wright having purchased him some few weeks back. It is understood the price was ,£roo. Stevens has so far only made two appearances in his new owner’s colours, running second at the recent Masterton meeting on the first occasion.
