BOROUGH COUNCIL.
A special meeting of the Borough Council was held in the Council Chamber last night, for the purpose of striking a special rate for the purpose of providing interest and sinking iund on a loan of £2XOO, 'm- the erection and furnishing ot the Coronation Hall. There were present: His Worship the Mayor (G. H. Stiles Esq.) and Crs Gibbs, Ross. Stewart, Coley, and Alex Speirs. It was moved by the Mayor, and seconded by Cr Coley, that a special rate ot three farthings in the £ on the basis ot the unimproved value of all rateable property in the borough be levied, and that such rate be an annual recurring rate during the currency of such loan and be payable yearly on the Ist day of July in each and every year until the loan is fully paid off.
